Academic Choir Chapel “Oreya” was created by Aleksander Vacek in 1986 in Zhytomyr, on the basis of the School of Music and the Local House of Culture, with the support of the Regional Music Society.

2008 – 9th International Choir Competition in Maribor, Slovenia
2007 – Ukrainian Competition of chamber vocal forms and choral collectives named after Borys Lyatoshynskyi in Kyiv, Ukraine
1999 – International Choir Competition named after Johannes Brahms in Wernigerode, Germany
1998 – International Choir Competition in Montreux, Switzerland
1996 – International Choir Competition in Lindenholzhausen, Germany
1995 – 24th International Choir Competition in Tours, France
1993 – 5th International Choir Competition in Meinhausen, Germany
– and 40 first places at prestigious international choral competitions.
– About 2000 concerts in Ukraine, Russia, Poland, Czech Republic, Hungary, Bulgaria, Germany, Switzerland, Italy, Spain, Netherlands, France and England, Norway and South Korea.
In 2009, Kelly Park, artistic director of the 1st International Choral Festival in Incheon, South Korea, put it this way: “This collective sets new world standards for choral art and is Ukraine’s best ambassador of all years. “
In 1997, the president of the French Choral Association, Marcel Cornell, praised the performance of the choir: “It’s one of the four best choirs in the world I’ve ever heard.”
And Oreya confirmed this – in 2018, at the 50th Anniversary Choir Competition in Tolosa, Spain. Among the 16 winners of the Grand Prix of this competition in previous years, “Oreya” entered the top four choirs of the competition and won the honorable first place.
